The Boston Public Market is a photographer’s delight with dynamic interior of dramatic high ceilings and vintage exterior architecture at 100 Hanover St. 02108, itself, as well as adjacent buildings some dating back to previous centuries. Once inside, your Digital Photo Academy instructor will share tips on capturing saturated colors of the fruits and flower displays in ambient lighting. Make a study of the patterns within the flower or fruit close up or create a broader view reminiscent of impressionistic paintings by master painter, Monet of France. Then there are the great environmental portraits of performers and vendors who have brought their goods to market.
Learn to capture action by focusing your lens on a chef in the midst of a demo or simply catch the crowd as surrounds the colorful displays. Your instructor will keep you all in a small group so you can get to know each other as the techniques and composition strategies are shared. Even photograph each other with helpful hints from your instructor on more flattering ways to pose as the subject or advise the model who you are photographing on angles, lighting and how to pose head and hands.
Meet at Information Desk just inside main entrance at Congress and Hanover. Sit together at Hub in the center of the Hall. Beantown Pastrami on first floor, 40 feet from information desk.
Each Composition in the Field class begins with a talk with one of our experienced instructors, and then you and your fellow students take a stroll through one of a variety of photogenic locales (in any of the 20+ cities the DPA encapsulates). There is street photography, magnificent interiors, farmers markets, zoos, landscapes, and more, photos of which are included within. These photos are a mix of student and instructor images in many different venues and cities across the United States and Canada.
You will have fun in the three-hour session, learn to shoot strategically, get more interesting photos of the event, and walk away with a foundation to improve your photographs in the future, whether you’re traveling, or at a birthday party and everywhere in between.
