Class Description

Description

Long-form is fun, sure, but why does your family keep asking "Oh you do improv…Like Whose Line Is It Anyway?" Probably because that show is fun and good. In this workshop, we'll learn, dissect, play, and utterly break a long list of fun and challenging short-form games—including scene-based games, character games, audience participation games, and pun games. Shortform style requires a tight execution of a known structure. We’ll learn to nail the rules of these ridiculous games in order to break the form.

Mastery of these short-form games enhances your chops as a longform improviser giving you new tools for heightening, commitment, crowd control, character work, and quick thinking. You’ll connect with your audience, cultivating a surprisingly accessible and explosively fun, live experience. Plus, it’s fun as hell!

Prerequisite: Completion of BCC Level 1 Improv OR students who have taken at least one full-length course at a major comedy theater (UCB, PIT, Magnet, Squirrel, Second City, iO, Annoyance, etc.) or have similar prior training can begin at this level. Please write your prior experience in the form when registering.
