This exciting online class is for anyone who’s been curious about hand-creating their own books and wants to be able to do it at home. We take you through the basics to make a variety of hand-made book structures of your own that can be used as journals, notebooks or turned into artists’ books.
We will discuss tools and materials such as adhesives, book cloth, board, and paper types as well as techniques such as folding, sewing and gluing. Students will explore different types of stitches and basic structures, coming away with several of their own sample books that are ready to use including pamphlet stitches, accordion books, Japanese side-stitch and more!
Classes will be taught in weekly live Zoom meetings and will be supplemented with recorded demo videos as needed. A materials list will be provided via email upon registration.
Tuition is only refundable for group classes when CourseHorse is notified at least 6 business days prior to the session start date.
Either way, students are responsible for notifying CourseHorse that they wish to drop a class or workshop; not attending the first class does not constitute an official cancellation.
If you must drop a class within 6 business days of the first session, no refund or credit will be given (except in the event of documented medical reasons with a physician’s note or other extenuating circumstances).
The school does not offer makeup sessions for missed classes. However, if you must miss a class due to illness or extreme weather, the school will offer a complimentary work session once the course is complete and the student is confident with their skills. While classes are rarely canceled, students will receive a full refund without a processing fee if a cancellation does occur.
