What you'll learn in this nature class:

Meeting locations for in-person classes:

  • Saturday, April 10, 9:00 a.m.: Thornhill Shelter (park in Parking Lot 21)
  • Saturday, April 17, 9:00 a.m.: Prairie Visitor Station (Parking Lot 25)

Discover the principles and practice of ecosystem restoration. Ecological restoration is a process for recovering forests, grasslands, and other ecosystems that have been degraded. Challenge your assumptions and have conversations about ecological restoration with an expert instructor. Explore what we mean when we say ecological restoration, examples in concept and practice, and discuss the implications of this work.

Most of the online material for this class is self-guided and can be completed wherever you have access to a computer, at your own pace. During two in-person sessions, you’ll observe local landscapes, discuss the restoration work taking place and apply concepts learned online.
