Description

At Bark Avenue Playcare, Inc. we believe that strong obedience training is one of the best investments you can make in your dog. Over the course of your dog’s life, proper obedience training will pay dividends far greater than the initial cost of the program. Not only is a well trained dog a joy to live with, but a well trained animal is also less likely to exhibit negative and often times costly behavior.

Our training philosophy revolves around your dog’s natural desire to please you as the leader of his/her pack. Our program is designed to help your dog understand basic human communication through consistency and repetition. One of the keys to successfully training your dog is to develop a consistent pattern of communication.

We believe that pack structure plays a large part in training. In a wild pack, the Alpha controls almost every function of the pack. By using this natural instinct, we can harness our dog’s natural drives and desires and create a healthy and enjoyable relationship. This will also go a long way towards solving problem behavior, such as toy or food aggression.

To help you achieve the Alpha position in your “pack”, you will be taught a few basic principles of pack structure that will enable you to maintain the training we will give your dog. Mainly, this consists of controlling the resources that your dog requires, much as a wild Alpha dog would. In a nutshell, we will show you how giving your dog a job can reduce or eliminate problem behavior.

We also believe that training should go beyond “conditioned response” and that our dogs are capable of making some decisions. If this is not taken into account, the dog may decide to do something other than what is asked of it.

Another important benefit of attending a training program is the socialization your dog will receive. A dog that has not been properly socialized will tend to be less obedient in any situation where he/she does not feel comfortable. By bringing your dog into new situations while building your dog’s obedience skills, you can be more confident that your dog will obey you in a wider range of situations.
