Britton Black

Teaches at Chicago Photography Academy

Britton Blackis a third generation photographer from the city of Chicago. Before touching a camera, Britton was already mastering the techniques of conventional printing at his father's lab. It was not until 7 years later did he actually begin to experiment with a camera.He enrolled at Northern Illinois University to pursue their fine art program and later continued education at Harrington College of Design. His work has taken on a very distinctive look, which has helped to create a well-rounded brand. Britton's photographs are equally complex in mechanics and artistic form.

He currently runs his family photographic business of 63 years and owns a commercial lab. He also shoots commercially and manages the Marc Hauser Studio in Chicago.Britton currently teaches our Advanced Portraiture class in our fully equipped studio. Students who have already taken our Fundamentals of Lighting class are able to spend a weekend with Britton honing their craft.
