Great instructors and very knowledgeable. Almost perfect. I just wished we did more locations (Oculus, Grand Central Station, etc.) That said, it was a great experience and would highly recommend it.
  • Adobe Lightroom: Unlocking the Power of the Dev Module

Reviewed by Ross Santy on 11/13/2018
I have been a Lightroom user for over a year, and yet I found this class to have been an extremely valuable experience that opened my eyes to several new and productive functions that had not always been immediately obvious to me in spite of my experience working with Lightroom. Alan Kesselhaut is a very effective teacher. He presents advanced user functions in a way that is clear for the sophisticated user without ever talking down to or leaving a less experienced student behind. He keeps the classes small. My group was limited to six students, which gave us all time for the personal help we may have wanted or needed to master some of the more complex features of this latest version of the software. I have participated in several PPW classes, some in New York City streets and subways and some in classrooms. All have been valuable experiences.

Excellent class, walked away feeling much more prepared for my trip
  • Adobe Lightroom Basics

Reviewed by Arthur Romano on 8/12/2017
Best photography/Adobe class I have ever taken. Alan is great and makes sure you leave with a strong understanding of basic light room storage and also gets you started with manipulating your images. I would recommend and I plan on taking more courses from PHW!

Class was great and I learned a lot in a short period of time. Alan explained everything very clearly and concisely. He even helped me with a few of my own images. You must have basic computer skills/ knowledge to take this! There were several people who did not and slowed the rest of the class down. I know this was a basic class but that means basic to the program... not to the computer. I will be taking the advanced course next.
  • Composition on Location: Grounds for Sculpture

The field trip listed is only the most recent class that I have taken with PPW. I have taken five workshops and field trips with Princeton Photo Workshops anf they have been invariably of high caliber. All programs will have folks of mixed skill levels and Alan and the other instructors were always able to address the differences well. The groups are small so plenty of individual attention can be and was given. In fact am signed up for another field trip, and I am certain I will take more in the future since there is an interesting variety of locations and photographic topics on offer. I have been taking photographs for many year and have a pretty fair understanding of post production, I have always walked away with a number of new ideas, skill, and insights.
  • Photo Editing with Lightroom, Simplified

I took a two hour private class with Alan yesterday to start learning Adobe Light Room. It was amazing, and exhausting (but in a good way). My brain was so full and i was very excited. Today I've started the tedious, and necessary, task of organizing my pictures and setting up collection sets and collections. . . Then on to turning my pictures into ART!! I'm so grateful for all of the offerings of Princeton Photo Workshop. This was probably the best money i ever spent. Alan was very kind and patient, as well as incredibly experienced and knowledgeable. I felt like we were on the same page philosophically as well. The offer of ongoing support was also very generous and much appreciated. I feel like I learned alot, and also feel more confident. I'm excited to start taking more pictures, and then working with them to make them into art. You guys are the best. Can't wait until I'm ready for the next level. Until them - practice, practice, practice ;-)

I recently took my first workshop with, PPW/Alan. The class was macro photography, Don Komarechka was the guest instructor. The class was outstanding, Don and Alan's love for photography make them excellent instructors. I will definitely be taking more classes at PPW.

  • Advanced Color for Digital Photographers

    Anonymous review on 6/22/2016
All the color theory I’ve taken was pretty much geared towards painters so it was great to see it from a photographer’s point of view. As interesting as the class was, the proof is always how we students take what we learn and apply it to our work. On a recent shoot, I saw and photographed things in a way that I never would have noticed before thanks to what I learned on Saturday.
  • Night Photography: Philadelphia After Dark

    Anonymous review on 5/3/2016
I have been to a number of Princeton Photo Workshops. They have all been amazing. The most recent one I did was Nighttime Photography in Philadelphia with David Hartz. He was a knowledgeable, friendly, and patient instructor. It was a great evening. I also highly recommend Alan Kesselhaut's Lightroom course. It really clarified both the organizational and editing features of the program. Alan is also extremely knowledgeable and open to questions about anything related to photography or post-processing. It was one of the most valuable courses I have taken. Also recommended are Alan's Holidays Lights of New York workshop and Frank Veronsky's Portrait Photography. These courses provide more individual attention than you would receive in one of those big workshops at a convention center. They are well organized. The instructors are fabulous, and the courses are a good value.
