Sterling silver heart with tube-set gemstone
Students will use various techniques to create a sterling silver pendant with a lab created gemstone.
- Measuring and cutting sterling silver sheet and tube
- Texture/embellish metal using various methods
- Soldering
- Filing, sanding and polishing
- Drilling and setting of gemstone
- Chemically oxidizing non-ferrous metals
- Using a flex shaft rotary tool
INTERMEDIATE CLASS: Pre-requisite: soldering experience, or our simple rings class or bangle class.
If you are looking to learn a new metalsmith technique, this is the class for you!! Our experienced metalsmith instructor will walk you through cutting and texturing sterling silver sheet metal, making a setting for your stone, and finishing a beautiful pendant. You will use multiple metalsmithing tools to cut, texture, and polish as well as soldering and drilling a tube setting.
All tools and materials are provided by Multiplicity Art Studio. Stone colors are limited to supply on hand. If you need a specific color, please call ahead before booking so we can see if we have one available.
Note:
- Each student will make ONE pendant with ONE gemstone. If a student would like to add more than one gemstone, there will be an additional charge for materials.
- Chain not included but the studio has chains to purchase.
- Please allow for 2-3 hours to complete this class,
Studio Rules:
- Closed-toe shoes required
- Long hair must be tied back at all times
- No loose clothing that could get caught in rotary tools
