This intermediate-level course provides students with comprehensive instruction on chalk pastels as an artistic medium. Through Linda's thorough and well-developed curriculum, students learn to mix, blend, and apply chalk pastels across a range of subject matter, including landscapes, still life compositions, and portraiture. The course also covers the history and chemistry behind pigment mixing, making it ideal for artists who appreciate both the creative and scientific aspects of visual art. This versatile medium is particularly suited for artists who enjoy hands-on, tactile creative work.
Please Note: This course does not follow a "copy-the-teacher" format in which all students create identical paintings.
The Wednesday 3:30 PM in-studio class is designed for school-age children and meets after school hours.
Prerequisites: Drawing with Graphite 101, Oil Pastel 101, or a comparable foundational art course.
