In this hands-on glycerin soapmaking workshop students will make their own bars of soaps using techniques taught in class. Cae Byng of Soap Studio on Fifth in Brooklyn, NY has been making soap for 17 years and will teach you how to make your own beautiful melt and pour soaps. Students will learn techniques such as layering, swirling, creating shaped soap embeds such as curls, chunks, pieces as mosaic-like art, and more.
Glycerin soap is known as "melt and pour soap." It is easy to use and a different soap medium than cold process soap. Join us and get creative making your own bars (at least four per student), which make wonderfully unique gifts or soaps to sell.
Glycerin soaps set up within an hour and do not require any "cure time," unlike cold process soaps. They also do not require the use of lye or sodium hydroxide. You'll learn how to color, scent, and use herbs and other additives of your choice.
Students will also learn to use a special dissolvable, embed paper that is inserted into a clear soap. This dissolvable paper can be printed on with images (photos of family or nature, etc.) or with logos, quotes and the like.
Learn soapmaking tips, tricks and creative ideas. Come join us for a soapy evening of fun!
