Class Description

Description

What you'll learn in this craft class:

Learn how to make your own gorgeous fascinator in this Virtual Hat and Chat workshop hosted via Zoom.

This is a beginner level workshop, no prior experience necessary.

Join Kentucky Derby fascinator professional Lisa Shaub for our one hour Virtual Hat and Chat class where we create fascinators from materials we have at home. You can make yours big or small, over-the-top unique, and paparazzi flashbulb worthy.

We end the class with a virtual cocktail party, wearing our new fascinators while we have a drink together. Grab some friends online, and fire up your imagination!

In this online art craft class you will learn to:

  1. Create a fascinator base in a shape using hand painted paper. Lisa will walk you through how to make the correct shape to suit your face.
  2. Create beautiful trims out of paper and found objects. Lisa will show you every step of how to make your flower centers, how to create depth with color and sculpting, and make other trims out of paper.
  3. How to assemble your fascinator. Together we will put together our elements and find the combination that works best.
  4. How to attach your trims, balance the design, and finish your piece.

Materials list:

  • printer paper or unlined paper (if you don't have that use the paper you have on hand)
  • pencil with eraser
  • ruler
  • tape
  • glue - Elmer’s, hot glue, or any kind of glue you have on hand
  • needle and thread
  • nail polish
  • rubber bands (at least 3)
  • paper scissors
  • stapler
  • water color paints, magic markers, acrylic paints or colored pencils
  • water for paints
  • paint brush
  • mirror
  • cocktail or mocktail in a beautiful glass, and/or some yummy snacks

Before the class find some time to paint 10 pieces of computer paper. Allow time to dry before the class.

Truly a fun way to get together and feel like we are all in the same room. The experience was well organized even though we were not exactly prepared. Look forward to another class.
