What you'll learn in this portrait class:
Have you ever felt stuck or wondered "how should I start? How do I move forward on this painting?"
If you have, then this is the class for you! We will cover exactly how to progress from start to finish and answer any questions that arise. Following an organized and clear procedure is an essential part of painting.
The objective of the course is to learn a logical, step-by-step process to painting, with emphasis on the portrait. Topics covered include the two-value statement, head construction/perspective, light logic, color theory, and materials for painting. This is a 12-week in-person class and students will work from a live model every week. The class consists of lectures, demonstrations, and one-on-one critiques.

- Week 1 - Head Structure and the Magic of the 2 Value Statement
- Week 2 - How to Render: Controlling the Chaos of Oil Paint
- Week 3 - Finishing Project 1
- Week 4 - Beginning Project 2
- Week 5 - Deconstructing Perception: The Simultaneous Contrast Illusion and Light Logic
- Week 6 - Finishing Project 2
- Week 7 - How to Juggle Color, Value, and Shape
- Week 8 - Rendering in Color
- Week 9 - Light Logic Applied to Color
- Week 10 - Continuing Project 3
- Week 11 - Continuing Project 3
- Week 12 - Finishing Project 3

100% refund will be issued up to seven days after the first class. After this, no refund will be issued.

Unfortunately, we do not offer makeup classes. The instructor can tell them what they missed. Most of our classes are taught atelier style. If there is a demonstration during the particular session, after the demonstration the instructor goes to each student to work with them on a one-to-one basis. During this time the instructor can work with the student who missed the previous week, talk with them and explain what to do.
