this simply means that date has now sold out.
The much-heralded death of analog has not actually taken place; instead, a remarkable process of reinvention has occurred, in which the threat of extinction itself has led to new avenues of exploration.
Rather than engaging in the old “analog vs. digital” debate, in which one is found to be superior to the other; we will take a more holistic approach and consider the ever-present forces of fluidity and transformation that have characterized photography as a whole.
Our class meetings will encompass a few short readings and discussions about photographic history, death, originality, and technological determinism; presentations of artists’ work; and suggestions for methods of making work from home while access to darkrooms remains limited.
The class will culminate in the review of workshop participants’ work in the final week.
This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.
Upon registration, the instructor will send along additional information about how to log-on and participate in the class.
