What you'll learn in this ceramics class:

Learn to make and use a traditional tea ceremony set.

During this three-day ceramics workshop, participants will make three ceramic components of the traditional tea ceremony: the lidded Matcha carrier, the tea bowl, and the platter. Using both coil and slab techniques, participants will form and trim their pieces. Once kiln fired, pieces will be glazed and finished. 

Included in the workshop, participants will tour of the museum’s newest exhibition; Beyond Zen: Buddhist Baroque and end with a front row seat to a live tea ceremony performed in-house at the Museum’s Second Sunday event.
