Learn the basics of knitting and turn yarn into fabric at Brooklyn Craft Company. Whether you're a beginner or need a refresher, this workshop will teach you the essential skills to get started on your knitting journey.
Knitting in lace is an exploration of positive and negative space.
Learn to make these various paired increases/decreases; knit specific stitch patterns designed to focus on lace; incorporate beads; attach a knitted edging to a non-bound-off edge; and learn the formulas for rectangular, circular and triangular shapes.
SUPPLY LIST:
NOTE: This quantity/type of yarn is adequate for the sample pieces we will make in class to learn the techniques. If you desire to begin a shawl or other similar lace project (on the second day of class), feel free to bring yarn for that project. That is not, however, a requirement.
NOTE: The reason that bamboo is suggested for needle type is that it is less likely to slip out/fall out of your work while knitting. A second-best choice would be plastic needles. Third choice (less desirable) would be metal needles.
