Course Descriptions

Foundations of Herbal Medicine for Beginners

In this optional class, you will be introduced to the basic types of herbal medicine and learn vocabulary and terms you will hear throughout the weekend.

Making Oxymels and Other Herbal Concoctions

Medicine making: Not all herbs are tasty, but since time immemorial there have been many ways to prepare herbs and herbal blends to make them palatable. Oxymels, (Latin oxymeli meaning “acid and honey”) are easy to create. In this workshop, we will make a few different oxymels to illustrate some varied recipes and some of Lata’s magical methods of medicine making.

Fortifying Your Beauty and Grace With Herbs

“Beauty is the illumination of your soul” -John O’Donahue

In this class, appropriate for all genders, Aemen will go over using simple herbal preparations for glowing beauty and handsomeness. Herbs for beauty are made into teas and potions that have side benefits of increasing energy, digestion, as well as prevention of disease. She will also go over the topical use of herbs for brilliant skin and healthy hair. This class will guide you in nurturing your own unique loveliness, and help you expand and clarify your own definition of beauty.

Our Changing Bodies: for WOMEN ages 20-105, and the Men Who Love Them

Come together and share in the community. You are not alone! And you are not going crazy!

We will discuss the many physical and emotional changes, concerns, and pains we share during our ever-evolving, human female experience. You will learn about herbs and strategies to support transitions and relieve symptoms. Most of all, you will get reassurance that everything is ok. This class is appropriate women of all ages and the people that love them.

Medicinal Mushroom Walk

Let's go on a mushroom walk to learn what fungi are and what they are doing in the environment. We will pick mushrooms and explore their historic value, present-day uses, and potentials in the future. Throughout the walk, we will focus primarily on medicinal mushrooms properties and preparations as well as their ability to heal the planet.

Evening Ceremony

Join Demitra Vassiliadis of Heaven to Earth Astrology for a ceremony to focus our collective intention on bringing the Heavenly Dimension back to Sacred Earth. On March 6th, 2019 Uranus, the planet of the higher mind, liberation, technology, brilliance and the realm of the skies, also known as the heavens, entered Taurus, the earthiest of earth signs, for the next 7 years. This aspect literally unites the Sky Father with the Earth Mother and signals a time of evolution in our relationship to our bodies and the body of Mother Earth who provides for our every material need, and sustains our every step.

This weekend Grandmother Moon will also be traveling through Taurus, nurturing our relationship to our sense of self-worth, our bodies, and the temple of the material realm in which Spirit abides. Together we will ceremonially take a quantum leap into a heavenly relationship with the natural, living world!

Foraging Walk and Hands-on Herbal Medicine Making

Paul will lead a walk in which we will identify common edible and medicinal plants and discuss their uses. He will share how these plants have become part of his story, and how students can incorporate them into their daily lives. Students will learn how and when to harvest each species and the ways in which they can be prepared as food or used as medicine. We will be exploring the native and introduced species and we'll harvest some wild foods to take back to the field kitchen and prepare for folks to taste. Feel free to bring a camera and a notebook. You'll also have time to gather medicinal plants that resonate with you and there will be time to work with Cheryl to make either an herbal vinegar or tincture or both if time permits.
