Self-care for Self-sufficiency: Plant Medicine in the Kitchen
Many people view the striking numerical pattern of 11/11 - repetitive, palindromic, symmetrical, visually indicative of upright columns or doorways - as a cue to tune in to the harmony inherent with their aspirations, loved ones, and all of humanity, as a cue to spread love and beauty with the world around them. As harmonies are sonic vibrations ordered in a pleasing formation, we can imagine ourselves in an equally pleasant arrangement with those aspirations and people who we hold in our attention and intention.
This class focusing on self-sufficiency is an effort to provide an answer for low-cost and effective means of self-healing before illnesses become acute. A return to the knowledge of plant medicine can assist us in gaining power back from the current healthcare system. This class will teach attendees to prepare remedies at home using basic kitchen tools and common kitchen ingredients. These herbal preparations are time-tested, safe, potent, and often rich and delicious.

Rossana Inés Rossi learned to prepare food as medicine from both parents as a young girl. She has studied with respected herbalists, including a three-year apprenticeship with Robin Rose Bennett—author and founder of the WiseWoman Healing tradition; Lewis Mehl-Madrona PhD—healer/author; and Stephanie Alston-Nero—healer/author. She holds a degree from Oberlin College (Art) and a certificate from Institute for Integrative Nutrition. Rossana has taught widely in the fields of holistic nutrition and healthy cooking and has consulted privately in plant-based medicine and Cherokee bodywork. Rossana practices in the Wise Woman tradition, preparing plant-based products for optimal nutrition and healing.
