5D Acting Intensive

The goal of this ongoing scene study/role preparation course is to provide a safe and challenging environment for professionally-minded actors to explore and deepen their work. The class emphasizes the specificity and depth of creating a character and the analytical skill and artistic rigor of delivering the dramatic arc of a scene, monologue, entire play/screenplay or audition.

The class takes a five-dimensional approach to the work:

1. Dimension 1: Your relationship to yourself as an artist
2. Dimension 2: The development of your technical skills as an actor 
3. Dimension 3: Your relationship to/understanding of your character 
4. Dimension 4: Your relationship to/understanding of overall dramatic arc of the (screen)play 
5. Dimension 5: Your relationship to your audience

In other words, every dimension of your work is addressed in a constructive, integrative way.  

The class emphasizes the specificity and depth of creating a character and the analytical skill and artistic rigor of delivering the dramatic arc of a scene or monologue.

When used for scene study/role preparation, the class will follow the 12-week role preparation format culminating in scene work/monologue prep:  

• Journalistic Report 
• Character Bio & Interview 
• Daily Activity
• Private Activity 
• Private Moment 
• Animal Exercise 
• Previous Circumstance 
• Improv Off Text 
• Scene or Monologue (On Text)  

You may also use the class for audition preparation.

Admission is by audition/interview.
