Who this class is for: Beginners and Late Beginners. Adults who have some experience playing the violin and would like to improve their bow technique. In the course of training, you'll also learn more advanced notes and bowing skills.
When: This class is held on Wednesdays at 6:30pm.
Goal: 1. To improve your overall sound on the violin. 2. Learn new bow techniques which can be used in variety of songs, thus increasing the number of songs you can pick up and play.
What You Will Learn: The foundation of all beautiful tone starts with beautiful bow technique. Every violinist knows how important it is to have full mastery of the bow. Through the use of special bowing exercises, you will begin to gain this mastery, one week at a time. Each week you will notice significant improvement in your sound. You'll also learn more advanced notes, thus widely increasing the number of songs you can play.
Pre-requisites: Must have minimally graduated the Absolute Beginner class. Must be able to play a scale. Students in this class range from Beginners looking to take the next step to Early Intermediate students wanting to improve their sound.
If you can play the following, you meet the qualifications for this class. Still have tape on your fingerboard? No problem at all.
This is not what we'll play in this class, but if you can play the above examples, then you can play what we're playing in class.
Who this class is not for: Intermediate and above students who feel comfortable bowing in a wide variety of circumstances and are happy with their tone. Also, students who are looking to play ensemble pieces. (Do this in the 7:30 Orchestra class)
Do I need a violin to attend this class?
Yes, definitely. And you'll need one to take home with you, too. If you need to rent a violin from us.
Instead of collecting down payments, we use class and lesson packages as a down payment, so before we turn over your violin, we'll need to see that receipt or record.
