The foundation of all communication is story, to convey an idea to others. Photojournalism takes this foundation, adds truth, research, ethics and immediacy, intensity and impact, to inform the public. Photojournalism is a license to be curious, to ask questions, to learn, to share with others how you see the world, and your camera is your weapon of choice to participate.
Whether you are a complete beginner or have been shooting for years, this workshop will break down the process from how to use your camera to how to organize, shoot and ultimately pitch your visual stories for publication. We will begin with fundamentals of light and composition and learn how to push your camera to the limits with insider tips and tricks to create stunning visual narratives.

School Notes:
OUTSIDE FOOD & DRINKS ARE NOT ALLOWED. QED has coffee, tea, soda, beer & wine plus snacks and pre-made wraps and sandwiches available.
Refund Policy
- We require at least 8 business days notice before a class in order to issue a refund less 5% cancellation fee and there are no transfers to future classes allowed.
- Tickets are transferable meaning we will allow anyone to take your place in class, so check around with your friends to see if someone else would like your spot.
In case of bad weather, classes WILL always take place unless the subway system is closed down. If you have issues traveling, please keep this in mind when you purchase your ticket. If the school do cancel for an emergency, we will try to reschedule the class on the same day of the week at the same scheduled time as soon as possible. If you cannot make the rescheduled date, we will refund you the price of your seat.
