The teacher was fantastic! The class had a great structure, covered everything it said it would, and the lesson was informative and interesting. I learned a lot. Thanks!
  • Super Researcher

Reviewed by Meredith K. on 10/18/2019
This was a great class. We came away with a plethora of USEFUL resources for researching. Our professor works in the field so she's used all these tools. Also, we learned the newest high tech 'delvers'. We were asked to bring in our own PCs, etc. and for the techie class Aimee Rinehart invited in another journalist/tech guru so we could work on our own devices and test the new tools. Because there was more than one person trying to help (and imagine all the different devices and operating systems), it went quickly and smoothly, and no one was discouraged. Along with the knowledge imparted and the shared experience, we were asked to share our own current reporting challenges. We worked as a group to try to help one another solve the puzzles of finding specific information on topics. Also, we had a New York Times researcher come in: you can't get much better than that! She shared her 'boots on the ground' stories and how it works at the Times when research is required (and it's always required) and how to double and triple check your sources. I came away with a large research toolbox, and knowledge about other reporters quests, and the teachers' willingness to assist each student with their interests. The classes at Newmark Journalism are incredible. This is my third one. I've signed up for another one. They're taught by 'boots on the ground' professionals who inject experience in with the knowledge; examples to use the tools.

I couldn't review it more highly. I will be recommending this class widely. Barb was fantastic. What a trove of information she beholds. And at this cost, it was definitely a steal!
  • How To Be A Social Media Editor

Very informative, liked the teacher, would recommend.
  • Freelancing Workshop

    Anonymous review on 1/12/2016
THIS IS AN EXCEPTIONALLY WELL-RUN AND INFORMATIVE CLASS. Organizer was Ellen Walterscheid and Professor Fred Kaufman. I can only refer to the course when they teach it but FREELANCING WORKSHOP with them in January 2016 was exceptional. I'm a freelance writer but not a journalist. This class gave me insight into how to pitch stories to editors of print magazines. Trust me, this class is worth every dollar and every minute of your time. Exceeded my expectations.
