This Course equals 0.8 CEUs.
Prerequisites: There are no prerequisites needed to attend this course. Students must be able to verbally communicate with instructor in primary language of the training.
Audience: The Construction Site Fire Safety Manager Training is designed to fulfill the training requirements for Fire Safety Manager under the new regulation, section 1401.1 of the NYC Fire Safety Department.
While there are no prerequisites to attend the training, it is recommended that students intending to apply for this certification review the experience guidelines outlined on the FDNY webpage under Notice of examination for the Co of F S-56.
Course Description
In this course includes introduction to the Fire Code and Fire Department Rules, including their organization and terminology, Fire Code construction site provisions (FC Chapter 14 and 3 RCNY Chapter 14), Chapter 14, Section 1408., and all construction site fire safety requirements, as set forth in 3 RCNY 1401(c) Upon conclusion of training, all participants who successfully pass the course exam will receive a certificate of completion and verification letter for Construction Site Fire Safety Training from TSCTA.
Learning Outcome
In order to apply to the Fire Department for the S-56 Certificate of Fitness, students must pass the school graduation test at the end of the day. Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
Methods of Instruction: This course consists of several different components which include power point presentations, lecture, real life case studies, and class discussion.
Completion Requirements
100% attendance for the course and active participation in learning activities including hands-on exercises and the end exam is required. Students must receive a minimum passing score of 70% on the 50-question multiple-choice exam to pass the class and receive the course completion certificate and verification letter. Students are allotted 2-hous to complete the exam, which is not open book.
Students who do not pass the end-of-course test will be extended a second opportunity to take the exam. It is the students’ responsibility to contact TSCTA to schedule their retake exam within one week of the original class date.
Students who do not successfully pass the exam a second time will have the option of registering for another construction site fire safety manager training course at a reduced price of 50% of the original course fee. Students must contact TSCTA to schedule and pay for the retake class within 6 months following the original class date. After 6 months, students will be required to pay the full course fee.
Make-up time is not permitted for this training course. Students who miss time from any individual session must reschedule and attend the full training course. For TSCTA’s full attendance and make-up time policies please refer to http://www.tscta.com or the Student Policy and Information Form.
We are waiving the penalty for cancellation or postponement requests that are not provided within the appropriate time period (3-days prior to the start of training)
Cancellation
TSCTA reserves the right to cancel or reschedule classes at any time. If a course is cancelled at the request of TSCTA, after the student has registered, TSCTA will notify CH of the change and advise that the client is eligible to be rescheduled to another event or entitled to a full refund. It is the responsibility of CH to contact the student to reschedule and/or process the refund.
Should TSCTA cancel or reschedule a class due to weather or unforeseen circumstances beyond the control of TSCTA, the client is entitled to a full refund; however TSCTA is not responsible for travel arrangements, travel fees, or any expenses incurred by you as a result of such cancellation.
Should the client no longer be interested in attending training, they should be directed to contact CH who will review the request in line w/ TSCTA’s cancellation policy. Assuming it is within the required 3 business days’ notice and/or the client has not previously cancelled a registration w/o providing the required notice, they should be eligible for a full refund.
Cancellation requests received 1 to 3 business days prior to the course date will result in a credit toward attendance at a future scheduled course taking place within 12 months of the original class date. If the credit is not used within this 12 month period, the entire fee will be forfeited.
If a client is attending a course they no longer need or qualify for, should they make such claim at the start of training, no later than the lunch break, they will be eligible for a full refund.
Substitutions of attendee may be made at any time prior to the first day of training. Client will have to notify CH of the substitute students contact information.
Refund
Registrations must be submitted at least 3 business days prior to the class start date. Registrations submitted less than 3 days prior to the start of any class will not be eligible for a refund; however a credit will be issued on file.
Refund requests for students that do not comprehend the course language will not be accepted unless 3 business days’ notice is provided.
All refunds will be approved and processed through CH.
No show/missed attendance
For students who do not attend their registered course, CH may reschedule the client, free of charge, one time only. Should the student fail to attend the rescheduled date as well, a 50% deposit will be retained and the remainder of payment will be saved as a credit on file for up to 1 year.
