Skills covered include basic hand tool use, plumbing, electrical, tiling, plaster/drywall, as well as essential communication skills for working with tenants and outside contractors. This lecture and hands-on-training class are designed to prepare you for work as an in-house super. Students will receive a certificate of completion that may be presented as evidence of having met the educational requirements to work as a competent building super. Learn to repair toilets and faucets, install locks, wire outlets, plaster, set tile and perform the everyday tasks of a resident super. The class also covers NYC pest control requirements(bedbugs and rats).
This is an extremely interactive class! Although HPD does not currently ask for the certificate of competency, it's our belief that supers must be very competent- and must have the people skills to work with residents and outside contractors. A Certificate of Completion is awarded after successful completion.
