The Abrons Arts Center is the performing and visual arts center of Henry Street Settlement. The facility links the 300-seat proscenium Playhouse, originally constructed as the Neighborhood Playhouse by philanthropists Alice Lewisohn and Irene Lewisohn in 1915 to the main art center building, which opened in 1975. The development added two theaters and an outdoor amphitheater. Visual arts exhibitions are mounted in the Abrons Main Gallery and the ground-floor Culpeper Gallery. The underground floor of Abrons is a shared artist studio space. Classrooms and dance studios are located on all floors for arts training and instruction.
The Abrons supports the creation and presentation of innovative, multi-disciplinary work; cultivates artists in all stages of their practice through educational programs, commissions, and residencies; and serves as an intersection of cultural engagement for local, national, and international audiences and arts-workers.
Classes & Workshops
The classes and workshops at Abrons Arts Center offer progressive, experiential learning opportunities for makers at all levels of artistic development. We encourage risk taking, collaboration, and embrace curiosity. Participants are encouraged to construct meaningful responses and collaborate while thinking critically.
The instructor created such a fun class vibe. I hope she teaches the class again!
Tonino was a great instructor!
The professor is great! He gives individual attention and has you practice with the group. He's fun and calm. Now, I'm signed up for his Piano I course :) it's a Great workshop. You learn some of the basics like finger numbering, treble and bass clef, begin to learn how to read music and play it. Definitely practice in between because it shows. :P
Good class. Only issue was that it was a little over booked so we were crowded.
Was a fun light and enjoyable class with great atmosphere
