Loved it johns a very good teacher!!!
Professional environment and all, but not much what I expected in terms of learning some skills and maybe taking something tangible away, rather pretty good industry info followed by seeing if they can up-sell to pay/take more classes. Basically prospecting class.
This was the perfect introduction to voice over for me. John, the instructor, made the class stress-free for a beginner.
The class was great and interactive. Noel was a knowledgeable and encouraging instructor. She gave great direction and made me feel very comfortable even though I was way out of my comfort zone, I did not leave feeling terrible about. I actually left feeling like I had fun doing something new.
I was very disappointed with this class and would like my Course Horse credits back. This was a complete scam by people who are preying on people's weaknesses and hopes, and ultimately does not deliver what was promised. This 3-hour course promised an evaluation and professional recommendation. In actuality, there are about 1.5-2 hours of the instructor describing the voiceover life (not directly why we came) and gave each person 1 script to choose to read. So, there was no way to be evaluated in more than 1 category. The instructor gave everyone in the class "good" reviews (only in the category we read) and everyone in the class was encouraged to spend an additional $3600 on a "program" that included the creation of 2 demos. When I asked how much to only take the courses I needed and create the demos, I was inexplicably told it would cost even more money because that would be "a la carte." This introductory class was a scam because it was literally just a device to get people to pay money---only to manipulate people into thinking there was a good reason to pay much more money. I am disappointed that this program wasn't vetted more carefully by Course Horse as I assumed there was some standard level of quality if these courses are being distributed by your company. I would greatly appreciate if the credits for this class were refunded so I may take a real class. (My co-worker Dylan Havens took the class with me, and would like his credits refunded as well.)
I actually had to cancel the Saturday class so I can't give a review, but I would like to take another Voice class again soon. I am sure I would give it a stellar rating, but I could not be there. Sorry for the cancellation, but I will be back.
Worth the time and money! Great class
I really appreciated the honest feedback from the instructor. He wasn’t there trying to sell us anything. He genuinely just wanted to inform us of what the industry is like, and how it’s changed recently, to prepare us for when we moved forward with our careers.
I took a v.o. class 6 years ago elsewhere in NYC and was so discouraged and disappointed I never pursued my intention of reading audio books or narrating. I took this course as another look-see foray and was inspired, encouraged and impressed. Your program, at least from my really excellent brief encounter, seems like an ideal home from which to hone, practice and grow my potential. Good work! Lisa Jarvis
Really informative about the craft and the industry as a whole. However, the class felt a little big, so we all only got to go into the booth/get feedback once each. Would have liked two goes at least, considering the cost I spent on the class.
