Alex Ulanovskiy

Teaches at New York Fencing Academy

Alex is an accomplished competitor and coach with over 35 years of fencing experience. He’s won several national titles including 2004 Men’s Epee Veterans-40 US Fencing National Champion, 1986 & 1985 Men’s Epee Ukraine National Champion, 1984 Men’s Epee USSR National Team Champion, and 1982 Men’s Epee Army of USSR Champion. Alex spent 13 years coaching in Ukraine and Italy. While coaching members of the Ukraine national team, the Men’s Epee squad earned a bronze medal at the 1995 World Championships in France and the Women’s Epee squad won gold at the 1995 Ukraine Championship. In the US, Alex was Head Coach of the Columbia High School team which won the New Jersey State Championship in 2000, and Head Women’s Fencing Coach at Queens College since 2001. In addition to teaching mathematics in New Jersey, Alex was fencing instructor at The New York Athletic Club, and continues to coach at Candlewood Fencing Center as well as New York Fencing Academy.
