She has performed as a soloist and company member with Elena Lentini’s Caravanserai, New York Performing Artists Company, Anahid Sofian & Dancers, Jehan Kamal’s Ballet Exotiqa and SaZ Dance Theatre, among others. In 1997 Andrea opened for Ricky Lee Jones’ GHoSTYhead tour in NYC, Boston & Philadelphia. Andrea’s choreography has been presented at New York City’s Town Hall and at the Rhode Island Philharmonic, and by her student company The Dancing Rubies at events in the NYC area. Andrea has been teaching Middle Eastern dance since 1993; she presently teaches at Dance Forum-NY, the United Federation of Teachers, and You Should Be Dancing.

Andrea has been a dedicated teacher of Middle Eastern dance since 1993, teaching weekly classes in New York City to all ages and levels. Her knowledge of traditional Egyptian, North African & Turkish dance is the foundation upon which she builds her classes, but she also adds Indian, Latin and Spanish influences to her choreography and combinations. Andrea’s classes for beginners focus on breaking down classic Arabic technique, clarifying isolations, building strength, increasing flexibility & discovering the sensuality of the movements. As students advance, she also teaches the art of playing finger cymbals. Her classes are fun & challenging, geared to benefit both the body and spirit.
