I’ve been sewing since I was a young girl. My mother and grandmother taught me and I learned more in junior high school. First I made my clothes. Later, I expanded to home decorating and quilts. When my first son was born, I began experimenting with sewing toys. I don’t know how I began sewing dolls as I am the mother of three boys but when I started, it felt so natural – as though they had always been inside of my hands waiting patiently to come out!

I loved the class. Ellen, the instructor, was patient and kind. She was able to adapt her teaching to each of us individually as we all had different levels of experience with sewing. I look forward to another class with MAvery Studios again.

Excellent course. The teacher is amazing and I look forward to joining their additional courses
Ellen is a great teacher, very calm, always willing to answer questions. She even provides background on what you may or may not see on other sewing machines so you are prepared when you are going to do things on your own. There is material available to buy so you don't have to worry about getting your own material. The class doesn't have to be kept to a schedule, so you never feel like you are behind - she'll provide you with instructions at your own place and never rushes you. She plays music during the class which creates a great ambiance for sewing. Overall, it is a great beginner sewing class.
