Malou Zuidema is an illustrator and teaching artist from the Netherlands. She
graduated with a four year Bachelor in Fine Arts in Education from the

This class was such a fantastic way to start a Sunday morning. It was laid back and the professor was very hands on -- walking around to everyone's work station to see the progress they were making and if they were enjoying themselves. The only con is I wish the class would have been 30 minutes longer. The professor's demo took 20 minutes or so, so I wasn't able to make as many cards as I had hoped. Overall though, this class was a blast and Brooklyn Brainery is such a quaint and inspiring space. I will definitely be back to take many more classes in the future!

Class was ok but I left maybe expecting a little more. Pros: 1) instructor was friendly and had a relevant background for the material tought 2) class size was good. I wouldnt have more than 10 spots bc everyone spreaded out once we started working 3) space was nice. Supplies were adequate. Lots of mediums to choose from Cons: 1) class started late and really needed more time to finish the recipe. I took my work home. 2) there was not much technique taught. Aside from showing us her pintersts and sketch process, coming from an art background, i didnt really learn anything new 3) found it slightly disappointing that this was a hand drawing and watercolor class but the instructor does all her stuff in CAD which is quicker but I think non art/graphic design people found this overwhelming. 4) she could have done a longer class or a part 2 to focus on the photoshop functions she uses. 5) class was too short. Started 10 mins late. With intro and group discussion and then brainstorm sketching we had like an hour or less to work on the actual recipe piece.

Love the class! I am becoming a big fan of Brooklyn Brainery. Malou was very patient and helpful. I have learned so much from her in just two hours. It was fun and awesome! Highly recommended. My only complaint is that the AC was too weak for the hot summer days.
