Rafael Risemberg, Ph.D. in arts education, founded New York Gallery Tours in 2002. He was a college professor for 16 years before devoting himself full time to gallery tours. For three years he was also the art critic for the New York Blade.

The tour was great. Rafael really planned it well and mixed different mediums of expression. We had a large group but he made time for us all.

Our guide was fantastic- he curated an excellent tour. We learned a lot about the art works and enjoyed walking around Chelsea. The galleries and artists were beautiful and intriguing. Although there were a lot of people in our group we never felt cramped or rushed.

As a third time visitor to NYC this was my first visit to Chelsea. I was very pleased with the tour and the knowledge of our guide Rafael Rosenberg. The tour was planned by a friend and most likely is not something I would have found on my own. The afternoon spent in Chelsea was one of the highlights of my trip. I will most definitely do another tour my next time in New York.

This was an excellent way to explore and understand the New York commercial art market and to see a very interesting and diverse group of artists. The tour is conducted by a knowledgable and entertaining guide. I would definitely recommend this tour to others visiting or living in New York.

The tour was awesome. In fact, I’m quite surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Pace and length of the tour were perfect and I loved getting Rafael’s perspective/interpretation on the art. Definitely have a new appreciation for some of this contemporary art. Already thinking of my next tour(s)! Thank you.

The tour guide was engaging, knowledgeable, and took us to look at thought-provoking pieces at some galleries I’d never heard of or passed but did not realize these spaces housed galleries. The Lower East Side is such an incredible place for art and I’m glad I got exposed to more of it.
