Sam Adoquei

Teaches at National Academy School of Fine Arts

After graduating from the Ghanatta College of Fine Arts in Ghana, Adoquei traveled extensively around Africa and Europe to paint and study. After moving to the United States he studied at The Art Students League with Oldrich Teply. In addition to the National Academy School, Adoquei has taught at the New York Academy of Art, the Educational Alliance, the Art Students League, and workshops around the country and abroad. He has exhibited nationally and internationally and has won several awards, including the Gold Medal in the Knickerbocker Artists Annual Exhibition. His triptych of Martin Luther King Jr., part of a traveling exhibition honoring Dr. King, sponsored by the Smithsonian Institution, was on view in Washington during the summer of 2003. Adoquei’s work is in the collection of the Elliott Museum in Florida; the National Museum of Naval Aviation in Pensacola, FL; the Long Island Museum, NY, and in private collections in the US and abroad.
