Catherine Despont & Nancy Nowacek

Teaches at Pioneer Works

Catherine Despont is a writer, editor and educator. She develops educational programming at Pioneer Works Center for Art and Innovation and also edits Intercourse, a magazine published by Pioneer Works twice a year. She has taught for the NYC Parks and Recreation Department, in France at l’Ecole Supérieure des Beaux Arts Le Mans, and will be an Adjunct Professor at NYU’s MAGNET Program this fall.

Nancy Nowacek is an artist, designer, and educator. She uses sculpture, performance, and installation to expand the uses of the body in modern life. Her current large-scale public work, Citizen Bridge, proposes a hand-made temporary floating pedestrian bridge to reconnect Brooklyn to Governors Island. She is currently an Eyebeam 'On the Move’ Fellow, and a Smackmellon ‘One to Watch'. She holds MFAs in Visual Communications and Social Practice and has taught graduate studios at Parsons and Pratt. She will be an Adjunct Profressor NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program this fall.
