Emily Hand

Teaches at La Scuola at Eataly Flatiron

Emily Hand started working at Eataly as a sommelier in early August 2010, just before the store opened. Although she had been studying wine on her own for a couple of years, it was her first foray into the wine world. In April 2013, Emily was appointed to her current role as Beverage Director for Eataly New York. She finds that one of her favorite aspects of her job is teaching the food and wine classes at La Scuola. In addition to her participation in the education department, Emily oversees the many wine and beer lists across Eataly’s seven restaurants; leads a team of sommeliers that instructs the servers, bartenders and managers; and helps coordinate store-wide promotions, which allow regional Italian producers to showcase their wines at Eataly’s restaurants, wine store and La Scuola. Fun fact: Emily Hand spent her summers growing up at band camp, where she became a Grade-A flautist.
