Dorit Chrysler

Teaches at Pioneer Works

Dorit Chrysler is the co-founder of the New York Theremin Society, founder of Kid Cool Theremin School and endorsed Moog Artist. One of the few Theremin virtuosos worldwide, the Village Voice dubbed her "Queen of the Theremin." As a composer, her solo work ranges from electronic pop to film scores. Lars van Trier used her compositions, and she has collaborated with such diverse acts as Elliot Sharp, Cluster, Chicks on Speed, Baby Dee, Faust, Marilyn Manson, Tocotronic and Lee Hazelwood. Her last record “Avalanche” was produced by Anders Trentemøller and released on his Label InMyRoom. Her compositions have been commissioned most recently by the Venice Biennale ‘13 and MoMA. She produced a ten-piece Orchestra performance at the LA Disney Hall and has played at Lincoln Center, the Modern Arts Museum in Seoul, Karlskirche Vienna, MoMA, Louisiana Museum Copenhagen, Palais Tokyo Paris and the St.Petersburg Hermitage. She is currently holding a long term residency at Pioneerworks, helping to develop its music department.
