Heidi Schwartz resides in New York City where she teaches Hatha Yoga. Inspired by her desire to excel in Modern and African Dance she thought, “Wouldn’t the exercises seem easier if I studied yoga”? She soon discovered the other benefits. Heidi also likes to travel, having been to West Africa, Paris, Cuba, other places, and is currently learning Flamenco. She is has been an actress and continues to write poetry. She has given poetry readings at public libraries in NYC, Cornelia Street Café, the Yippie Museum, and most recently Jivamukti on the stage with Sharon Gannon, others, and Hawah-the editor of Thepoetryofyoga- an anthology where she was recently published. Her favorite writers include William Faulkner, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Galway Kinnell, Dylan Thomas, Walt Whitman, all stories Hanuman and Mahabarata, Rilke, Mary Oliver, so many others. When she read “The Sound and the Fury” she hoped it would not end. Her interest in literature attracted her to the 5 Universal Principals of Alignment as delineated by John Friend, a story told by the human body.
