Jane Bruce and Charles Provenzano

Teaches at UrbanGlass

Jane Bruce earned her master’s degree from the Royal College of Art, London, and undertook further postgraduate study at Alfred University. Her work, an examination of the vessel through glassblowing, kilnworking, and coldworking, is deeply rooted in the history of the decorative arts. Drawing and printmaking are also significant aspects of this investigation. Throughout her career Bruce has been the recipient of a wide range of Fellowships, Visiting Artist Awards and grants and her work is held in major museum collections worldwide.

Charles Provenzano, born and raised in New York City, initially apprenticed as a bench jeweler and diamond setter and in 1980 he founded Troy Findings/Jewelers, a wholesale jewelry supplier, located in the city’s jewelry district.  Charles’ introduction to glass was originally through neon in 1993 at The New York Experimental Glass Workshop, now UrbanGlass, and in 1995 he began glassblowing, which became his main glassmaking technique.
