Kaelyn Garcia was born in Detroit, Michigan and raised outside of the city. Her travel opportunities began at the age of 14 to Haiti. This sparked her curiosity in other cultures, which she took to South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique, Swaziland, Botswana, Mexico, Estonia, Finland, England, and throughout the United States. This has all contributed to her philosophical and moral foundation which motivates and inspires her lines and textiles. The exposure to varied traditions within different cultures has been an ongoing factor for her to learn and experience renewed interests in the art of hand-knitting, weaving, and dyeing. She currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
