Jess Goldschmidt is a writer, mover, teacher, and human living in Brooklyn. She makes people-based theater that builds meaning through humor, embraces spectacle, and asks questions of systems. She has deep feelings about nostalgia, the former Soviet bloc, tarot cards, Joni Mitchell, Kindles, formalism, and the American musical theater tradition.Choreography credits include Major League Baseball (Judson Church, dir. Doug Eacho), Someday This Country (CPR, dir. Doug Eacho),  and Chris Tyler's TRL (Total Rejects Live) (The Lounge at the Public Theater). Other creating and performance credits include Tall Women in Clogs (Dixon Place), W.R. Salome (Dixon Place), The Museum of Nostalgia (AUNTS), and MUSE (Standard Toykraft). Jess studied Literary Arts and Performance Studies at Brown University. Her plays include Sitting Room, The Death Book (developed by Arena Stage & Open Fist Theater), Queensboro Dance Academy at the Greenwood Center for Senior Care (semi-finalist for Clubbed Thumb Biennial Commission), and The Snow Queen: A Fairy Tale (commission for Abron Art Center's Urban Youth Theater). She is a member of Clubbed Thumb's 2014 Emerging Writer's Group, and 2014 Millay Colony resident.
