Kyle Green

Teaches at Brooklyn Guitar School

Born in a small town in the Midwest, Kyle grew up listening to a diverse range of music. Through his parents he was exposed primarily to Rock, Country, Folk, and Celtic music. Listening to artist from these genres aided in developing a musical sensibility that is continually reflected in Kyle’s playing. In his teens, Kyle was immersed in a music scene that was defined by heavy guitar riffs and shredding guitar solos. Rock music had taken over the local scene as well as Kyle’s musical interest for several years. Through out his teens Kyle performed with many local rock bands. Shredding guitar licks continued to be his passion until later in his early twenties when he was exposed to Jazz. The new textures, sounds, and rhythms that Jazz offered changed his playing forever. In his mid twenties Kyle had the opportunity to travel the globe performing as a guitarist with recording artist from both the UK and USA. This experience helped to give Kyle a better understanding of music and art. Now in his late twenties, Kyle is exploring musical avenues that allow him to explore all of his influences and interest, giving respect to each art form, but also being sure to stay true to who he is, therefore being able to create a music that is true to him.Kyle is grateful to have had the opportunities to study music with many incredible talents. These mentors have inspired and given him direction that has not only influenced his playing but also his views of art and life. In Michigan Kyle studied with the talented classical guitarist Carlos De La Barrera of Argentina at Grand Valley State University, as well as Jason Werkema, a wonderful talent and mentor to many. While performing nationally and internationally Kyle studied with some of the guitar worlds greatest innovators. Through their lessons, and music, these musicians remain highly influential in Kyle’s playing. Kyle is grateful to have had the opportunity to study with Adam Rogers, Gilad Heksleman, Jack Wilkins, Julian Lage, and Zvonimir Tot.Now settled in New York after several years traveling the globe performing, Kyle is grateful to be sharing the joy of music with his students as well as ambitiously pursuing new musical avenues writing music in his own projects and creating music with many talented artists around the city.
