Lou Howe

Teaches at Made in NY Media Center by IFP

Lou Howe is a screenwriter and director. His debut feature film, GABRIEL, was released theatrically by Oscilloscope Laboratories and earned its star, Rory Culkin, a Gotham Award nomination. The film premiered on the opening night of the World Narrative Competition at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival, before going on to play an extensive international festival run. During development, the project was awarded an Annenberg Feature Film Grant by the Sundance Institute, as well as a Cinereach grant, and was one of ten projects selected for the IFP Narrative Labs. Lou was named one of Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Independent Film for 2013, and is a graduate of Harvard and the MFA Directing program at the AFI Conservatory. His graduate thesis short film, MY FIRST CLAIRE, was named a National Finalist for the Student Academy Awards. Lou is a native New Yorker, but is currently based in Los Angeles.
