Priscilla Gilman

Priscilla Gilman, PhD, is a former professor of English literature at both Yale University and Vassar College. Her first book, The Anti-Romantic Child: A Memoir of Unexpected Joy, was excerpted in Newsweek magazine and featured on the cover of its international edition, was both a Chicago Tribune and a Leonard Lopate Show Best Book of 2011, and was one of five nominees for a Books for a Better Life Award for Best First Book. Gilman writes about education, autism, parenting, and literature for Huff Post Parents, the New York Times, the Daily Beast, and more magazine, serves on the Advisory Council for Ramapo for Children, and is a Scholar/Facilitator for the New York Council for the Humanities. A prize-winning teacher and with a background in the performing arts, Gilman has taught poetry to NYC public school students, inmates in a restorative justice program, and adult learners, and speaks frequently at schools, conferences, and organizations about parenting, education, and the arts. She has a BA, MA, and PhD in English and American literature from Yale University.
