Roopa Vasudevan

Teaches at Pioneer Works

Roopa Vasudevan is an artist, developer and researcher currently based in New York. She utilizes technology in order to explore the often subconscious influence of language, culture, and social norms on the way we treat each other. Her work has been exhibited at venues across the country, and has featured in blogs, news publications, and on German TV. She is currently working on a suite of projects that utilize language, visual, and auditory data in order to explore the cyclical effects that hip-hop and American society have on each other. Roopa is an alumna of the Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) at NYU, where she also served as a post-graduate research fellow in 2013-2014, and where she is currently adjunct faculty

Creative Coding with Processing

The instructor speeds through the materials way too quickly, when the workshop ends an hour earlier than the scheduled time. The workshop is basically participants trying to catch up with typing the same code the instructor is typing very quickly on the projector. The brief explanations on the whiteboard was the most helpful instruction.
