Slate Grove was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa in 1979. He was first introduced to glass in 2002 while attending the Cleveland Institute of Art, where he continued his studies until receiving his BFA degree in 2006.

Anu Penttinen was born in Helsinki, Finland in 1974. Anu has studied glass art since 1996, when she commenced her design studies at the University of Art and Design Helsinki.
