Explore the colorful world of watercolor painting with paintbrush in hand!
Join in creativity, connection and community in this LIVE, engaging ONLINE art class. Relax and enjoy learning, experimenting, and mastering watercolor painting techniques while tapping into your authentic self-expression.
Deepen your joy and discover your artistic voice through this personally guided painting workshop that will ignite your creativity and make you feel alive. In this painting workshop for artists of all levels, you will receive step-by-step, encouraging art instruction by a professional New York City artist.
In this beginner's art workshop, you will:
- Experiment, explore and learn how to create your own painting on paper that is an expression of who you are
- Deepen your knowledge of color mixing and how to create color palettes that are expressive and beautiful
- Receive step-by-step guidance and nurturing art instruction by a professional New York City artist
- Enjoy live painting technique demonstrations
- Practice basic painting techniques, including: how to create and build texture, composition, both abstract and realistic painting techniques, layering of paint, expressive mark making, and more!
- Relax and have fun in our non-judgmental, fear-free and supportive online art class
- Discover your own unique style and voice through painting
- Engage in a supportive group environment with like-minded people. At this time of COVID-19, we need community more than ever
- Receive the therapeutic health and wellness benefits of art and painting workshops, including stress relief, increased relaxation, mood enhancement, increased serotonin, self-empowerment, and increased self-esteem

- Watercolor paper
- Watercolor paints
- Watercolor brushes
- Cup of water
- Pencil
- Eraser
Remote Learning
This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.
Upon registration, the instructor will send along additional information about how to log-on and participate in the class.

Refund Policy
Class tuition is neither non-refundable nor transferable. No refunds will be issued after registration and payment. In case of a Medically Certified illness, a credit will be issued after receipt of your physician’s documentation. The value of the credit will be for the balance of the remaining class sessions with an additional deduction of a $75 registration fee. Credit may be used towards any offerings at The Art Studio NY for up to 12 months.
If after your first class you are dissatisfied with the quality of your course, a written note must be submitted within 3 business days after your first class. After receiving your note, refund of class tuition will be reviewed by our staff. If a refund is granted, processing of refunds requires 8-10 weeks.
Course Cancellations
Although course cancellation at The Art Studio NY is quite rare, The Art Studio NY reserves the right to cancel classes or change instructor assignments and makes every effort to notify students in advance. If enrollment goals are not met, a course may be cancelled up to 48 hours before the first scheduled class. In the event of cancellation, a full refund or credit is granted. On occasion, a course start-date will be pushed back if enrollment goals are not met. In this instance, you will receive a credit for the price of the class that did not take place.
Please note that there will be NO exceptions to this under any circumstances, and that neither CourseHorse nor The Art Studio NY will bend on this policy.
MAKE-UP POLICY
Unfortunately, The Art Studio NY does not offer any makeups for classes missed. However, if the student wants to get the most from the course and the absence, they can tell the instructor when they will be absent and the instructor can provide some guidance on exercises to practice while away.

I had never used watercolors before and had never taken a painting class. By the end of it, I had discovered a new activity that I could play with, and on a personal level I recognized my old perfectionism trying to reassert itself. By allowing myself to paint and not be concerned with doing it “right” or “perfectly,” I gained not only the enjoyment of experimenting with paints, but also a feeling of satisfaction knowing I hadn’t cheated myself out of a lovely experience. Claire was a wonderfully encouraging teacher!

It was a fun class. I do not recommend buying paint supplies through them (could have gotten the same supplies cheaper on Amazon). I do wish we could have gone over more techniques, as we just freestyled a landscape. Overall, enjoyable experience!
