Learn the ancient Japanese art of Shibori or indigo tie-dye. First students will learn techniques for tying, folding, and dipping your fabric. Then students will learn how to prepare a vat of indigo.
I will go over 30 shibori folds and binds to give you a full understanding of the resist process.
Due to social distancing this workshop will be a virtual workshop. I recommend setting it up in a place where you can get a little messy (due to the nature of indigo). If you can't go outdoors you can put paper or plastic down to protect the floor (that's what I do in my Brooklyn apt). If you can't set up and want to watch the demo, that is ok. Each student will get a PDF with instructions after the class.

Please reach out to [email protected] for more information regarding the Indigo kit (please allow for delivery time if you want to participate)
All skill levels are welcome. You can choose to dye along with me or just observe if you don't have all the materials. Multiple pieces can be dyed in the vat and I would encourage you to invite friends to share supplies.
Note: Dyes are permanent if they get on your clothes, so please dress accordingly.
This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.
Upon registration, the instructor will send along additional information about how to log-on and participate in the class.
