Carmen McDonald

Teaches at General Assembly

Carmen, often referred to as “Carm”, has had a love affair with all things design as early as she could remember. Formally trained in Architecture, she decided to take a few graphic arts and web programming classes and eventually transitioned into a Web/Graphic Design role within the marketing department of a small imaging company. As her career progressed, she found herself immersed in user experience and interaction design and currently supports IxD/UX design efforts for the Search & Product Data Excellence team at CDW.

Carm is well versed in designing multi-device interactions for a number of services and products as well delivery within an Agile/Scrum framework. With extensive experience in user research and testing, Carm is an advocate of implementing user-centered design principles and UX best practices. Throughout her career she has continuously mentored and taught at both the high school and graduate level in media studies and design technology.

In her spare time, when not taking on projects for her freelance design company 120RED, you can find Carm occasionally participating in running and crossfit activities, binging on Netflix and reality TV or reading a good mystery or romance novel.
