Eva Vacca

Teaches at The Art League

Eva Vacca is a printmaker, book artist, and educator.
In her work she searches for beauty and poetry in the ordinary and often unnoticed objects in our lives. She is interested in the role they play in constructing subjective memory. Eva’s favorite printmaking techniques are drypoint and etching. She likes drypoint for its immediacy and spontaneity. Etching, on the other hand, is fascinating for its variety of mark-making approaches.
Eva received her M. A. in Art Education and English from Palacky University in her native Czech Republic. She studied printmaking at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and subsequently earned her M.A. in Printmaking from University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. She was awarded research scholarships in Belgium, France, Germany, and Peru. She has exhibited in Europe and the U.S.A.
For over a decade, Eva led the printmaking studio at Angels Gate Cultural Center in Los Angeles, California. As a master printer at Angels Gate, she had extensive opportunities to teach a variety of classes in printmaking and book-arts, as well as closely collaborate with artists such as Peter Liashkov and Carol Es to execute their prints. After her recent move from Los Angeles, she is excited to be a new member of the faculty at Art League School in Alexandria.
