Class Description

Description

Explore the unique mark-making qualities of Monotype and Solar Etching working with non-toxic water based Akua inks, Arches 88 paper and other printmaking papers. We will work with the basic techniques of Monotype that include the subtractive and additive methods in addition to the Transfer technique used by Matisse and work with the “ghost print”.

With the Solar Etching, we will work from photographs and sharpie drawings on clear acetate exposed to the solar plate to produce an etching plate for image making. The image will be layered to possibly include collage elements moving towards mixed media. The emphasis will be an intuitive approach, no experience necessary and all levels are welcome!
