Lighting 101 builds directly upon foundational concepts introduced in Photography 101. Photography 101 takes you through manual mode proficiency and establishes core knowledge in natural light techniques and light modification strategies. Lighting 101 expands this foundation by teaching comprehensive flash lighting principles and applications. Like Photography 101, Lighting 101 aims to provide the most accessible flash lighting instruction possible. Therefore, we instruct you on complete flash lighting knowledge, light modification methods, balancing ambient and flash illumination, lighting configurations, off-camera flash techniques, and even sophisticated multi-point off-camera flash arrangements. What distinguishes Lighting 101 is that every single technique and image originates from just one straightforward on-camera hot shoe speed light attached to a basic DSLR camera.

Continue your learning progression to additional levels: Lighting 201, Lighting 301, and Lighting 401 with instructor Pye Jirsa, each course advancing your technical mastery of exposure and photographic lighting.

Refund Policy

Cancellations made at least 48 hours in advance of the class will be honored with a full refund. Students who cancel less than 48 hours prior to the start time of the class will receive a credit towards a future class.

In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
