- Attend class weekly and build your skills progressively. The class cycles through the comprehensive basics of guitar playing over a 6-8 week period, and then begins again at the start level. If you need to miss a session, no problem; you can make it up with another group session or take advantage of a discounted private lesson option. Want to attend more sessions and accelerate your learning? You can add other sessions at no additional charge to your membership
- Practice consistently at home using the comprehensive video play-along course materials. The more you practice outside of class, the faster you will learn and improve your skills dramatically
- This simple and effective Level 1 warm-up video is your best friend and essential tool. It takes only 2 minutes to complete, so do it before every practice session to properly warm up your fingers and hands, and to review your very basic foundational fundamentals. Try it right now if you wish; do not worry if it feels tricky at first, you will get comfortable and used to it with repetition
- At the end of each practice session, carefully review the class graduation video and work toward playing along. Playing along with this video in real time is your ultimate goal for each level. First, you may be confused and uncertain. Then you may find yourself challenged and pushed. And finally, you will crush it and feel an amazing accomplishment
- When you are ready and confident, record a video of yourself playing along with that graduation video. Our NYC Guitar School team will celebrate your achievement and place you in your next class level advancement. You will have proved to yourself that you are an on-fire, learning, growing, guitar-playing human being with real talent and passion
Most absolute beginner students are able to play along with the graduation video successfully after completing 6-8 sessions of the program. But faster or slower progression is okay and normal. You do you and progress at your own pace and comfort level.
Prerequisites and Requirements
No prerequisites are required whatsoever. Just bring your genuine desire to rock and learn guitar.
